The second annual guthrie symposium on newborn screening and metabolic disorders
The second Guthrie Symposium on newborn screening and metabolic disorders will be on the 106th birthday of Dr. Robert Guthrie, the “father of newborn screening”. The Guthrie Foundation, University at Buffalo (UB), Oishei Children’s Hospital (OCH), and The Children’s Hospital of Buffalo Foundation (CHOBF) are hosting this full-day hybrid educational symposium to honour the life and legacy of Dr. Guthrie, whose ground-breaking work at UB and OCH has saved thousands of lives worldwide. The event will include several keynote speakers, world-renowned researchers, and clinicians in genetic and metabolic disorders. We anticipate that the symposium will help revive the clinical and academic atmosphere that helped spark the newborn screening revolution in Buffalo decades ago. The symposium will be a forum where the top physicians and scientists worldwide can share their knowledge with providers, families, and community stakeholders.
